St George Ranked 11th MSA in the Nation

• Growth estimated by the Census Bureau for the St. George MSA between 2010 and 2011 at 2.6 percent; placing us at the 11th fastest growing MSA in the nation. “According to 2011 population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, the St. George metropolitan area grew by 2.6 percent between 2010 and 2011 and is ranked 11th in the bureau's list of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. SEED Dixie eMarketing Award

We are pleased to announce the creation of the SEED Dixie eMarketing Award! The award will be given to two Washington County Businesses. A local businessperson has donated the funds to provide $5000 each to two local companies that propose an eMarketing campaign that will deploy a variety of methods to help them expand their customer base. The SEED Dixie eMarketing Award aligns with the objective of SEED Dixie and USTAR, whose mission is to help create high paying jobs in Washington County. We expect this award to serve as that little push that a business needs to propel it to the next level. Tactics to be deployed may include: social marketing, web site development, SEO management, video, or others. Projects using a variety of these projects will be most successful. Concept to Company Contest

The Concept to Company Contest is back! If you have a technology concept or an invention, let us know about it by filling out the application at concepttocompany.org. You could win $10,000 in cash + $10,000 in legal, web-development and accounting services from our sponsors. Both of last year's runners-up went on to receive Technology Commercialization Grants in addition to the prizes they won in the contest. The application deadline is April 15, so get the ball rolling today! An orientation for applicants will be hosted March 3 at 5:30 PM at University Plaza Building C for all interested applicants.

Trevor Milton, founder of Upillar.com will be addressing us at the next Dixie Tech meeting on Friday December 10, at the Taylor Health Sciences Center auditorium. if you don't know about Upillar, you probably aren't a Glenn Beck fan. Glenn is auctioning off all his stuff on Upillar.com, for charity. Upillar is a St. George company. In fact, their location used to be right where our ITRE incubator is now located. The Dixie Techs will get a double serving of opportunity in September's Tech Friday. First, Mary Cardon from Utah's SBIR-STTR Assistance Center will speak with the Dixie Techs about the SBIR Grant process, qualifying for grants and resources available to citizens interested in applying for these Grants. There are REAL grant programs out there designed to help qualifying businesses. Is your business one of them? Come find out Friday September 10th at the Dixie Tech Friday.
